Football Glory for The City of Bristol

All the play-off matches are over and the season is complete.

City Fans Celebrate

The city of Bristol have done really well this season with their two teams, both moving up a league. Bristol City were the runners up of league One and will now be playing in the Championship, along with Plymouth Argyle. Bristol Rovers won the play-offs in league two and will now be playing in league one.

Rovers Take the Cup

Unfortunately Yeovil lost to Blackpool and so will stay in League one. I was hoping they would go up so I wouldn't have so far to go to watch Plymouth Argyle but instead Yeovil will be playing Bristol Rovers.

Derby will be back up in the premiership playing the likes of Man United and Chelsea. They will receive £60m for the move from the Championship but their manager, Billy Davies, was said to be unconcerned about the money he insisted: "It's not about the money but the success of this club - we are delighted''.

Well it's getting ready for the Elton John gig there later today. Lets hope the rain keeps off.

Rovers are playing Lincon in the second leg of their play off matches, it's only half time and already there have been 5 goals.

Also, I have just noticed, well over the last week or so, there are lots of teams which have yellow for their away kit. Whats going on? Are they all taking the piss out of Norwich?

And to top it all, my blog wouldn't open, so I could write this, but did give me a pretty picture to look at while I waited and waited and waited.

Play Off Time = Excitement

This weekend was the start of the play off matches, with Southampton taking on Derby on Saturday and Wolves playing WBA on Sunday in the Championship league for a place in the Premiership next season.

Who will be kicking a ball like this next season?

Southampton played a good game but were beaten by Derby 2-1. After going in front in the 7th minute, I was hoping that would be the first of many for Southampton but Derby managed to equalise in the 36th minute and a penalty, awarded for Pele's rash shirt tug on Pearson, saw Howard place the second of his two goals past Bialkowski, the Southampton keeper. The return match is on Tuesday, 15 May 2007 with kick off at 19.45. I know who I'll be shouting for.

Wolves lost to WBA 2-3. the teams will play again on Wednesday, 16 May 2007, kick off 19.45

The league one play off matches were: Yeovil 0-2 Nott'm Forest which was played on Saturday and Oldham 1-2 Blacpool played on Sunday

Holloway's BBC Column

With the end of the season comes Ian Holloway's last column on the BBC's web site . I have enjoyed reading this every week and have found it both amusing and informative.

Ian is so down to earth it's a breath of fresh air to read a manager's views that tell it how it is.

And Now, The Time Has Come........

Yep. It's here for Plymouth. The end of the season. Sunday saw their last game played at Hull's home ground, Kingston Communications Stadium. A 2-1 win to Argyle placed them 11th in the Championship league, 3 places higher than last season and 11 points richer, with 67 points.

Next season will see Plymouth taking on newly promoted Bristol City, who, from my experience of watching some of their games this season, are a team to be reckoned with. I'll be looking forward to wearing my Plymouth shirt when I go down to The Robins pub for a pre-match drink!

Last One For Now

Not long until our last game of the season and I'm not looking forward to a summer without football. Lets hope that Plymouth go out with a bang and manage a good win against Hull this Sunday
