How They Did It

Football Glory

They both did it.
Plymouth and Southampton both beat their opponents today. This means Southampton moved up into a play off position with Plymouth helping them on their way by keeping Preston out of the top 6.
Only one game left now for each of the teams, with the exception of Derby and Crystal Palace who play tomorrow, and it is still very tight at the top. Southampton will need to win their next match or hope that Stoke City and Preston don't to keep their place. Even a draw will not be good enough to keep Southampton there if Stoke or Preston win.

Plymouth have played their last game at Home Park for the 06/07 season and managed to find the form they had in the earlier part of the year. A 2-0 victory over Preston was an excellent result to end on.

Only Two Left

With only two games left this season there is still a fight for 3 of the 4 play off places of the Championship. Unfortunately Plymouth aren't a part of the fight but the team a friend of mine supports is. Southampton is currently 7th in the table with only 3 points separating the 3 teams above them.

The teams are;
Wolves, WBA and Preston.

Wolves have only won one of there last 7 games, they still have QPR and Leicester City to play.

WBA have won 2 and lost 4 of their last 7 games. This week they take on Coventry City away and their last league match is against Barnsley at home on Sunday 6th May.

Preston meet my team, Plymouth Argyle at Home Park this Saturday and Birmingham on the 6th May. Like WBA, Preston have won 2 of their last 7 matches but have lost the other 5.

This weekend sees Southampton taking on Norwich in an away match. Southend, who are 2nd from bottom of the league, will be Southampton's last league game of the season. Out of the 4 teams mentioned here fighting for a place in the play offs, Southampton seem to be the team on better form at the moment with 3 wins and 3 loses in their last 7 games.

Both me and my Southampton fan friend will be wanting Plymouth Argyle to win this week. Me because they are my team and my friend because it will mean Southampton go above Preston and possibly into a play off position.

Good luck to Southampton.

To Argyle I only have one thing to say:

Plymouth Argyle's own Space

I've decided that instead of posting about Argyle on my other blog it deserved it's own blog so here is the first of many posts I hope to bring you.

Barry Hayles

Saturday saw Southend visiting Home Park for the last time this season and maybe for a long time. Southend are currently 2nd from bottom in the Championship and are in real danger of being relegated down to league 1. Plymouth, on the other hand, moved up a place to 12th ensuring their place for the next season in the Championship.

Saturday's match ended in a 2-1 win for Plymouth. Ebanks-Blake scored for Argyle in the 6th minute and Southend managed to equalize with Clarke in the 25th. But Plymouth hadn't finished and Hayles went on to get the winner in the 90th minute.
